Golden Gate Wingmen Fly East For The Winter
The Supergroup Golden Gate Wingman announce a few precious Winter dates and Randy Harris could not be more Grateful. All the 411
Golden Gate Wingmen dates are rare treats for jamband fans, mostly because each member of the band is constantly buzzing around the country with their many other brilliant projects. When the quartet comes together, however, the result is a must-see for those who are fortunate enough to host them in their city.Toward the end of 2016, the band announced that they would fly east for a 4-night run on the East Coast, the ONLY 2017 dates announced so far.
The band is comprised of John Kadlecik (guitar, vocals), Jeff Chimenti (keyboards), Reed Mathis (bass) and Jay Lane (drums), all of whom are extremely well respected among fans of improvisational jam music. The combined resume of these extraordinary musicians includes Dead & Co., GD50, Ratdog, Furthur, Dark Star Orchestra, Phil Lesh & Friends, Primus and Tea Leaf Green, among others. Their extensive individual experiences, as well as their overlapping experiences, combine to create a one-of-a-kind musical adventure, providing audiences with one of the finest exhibitions of American improvisational music in the world. While the project is primarily the brainchild of John Kadlecik, this group gels together perfectly and truly demonstrates the power of the group mindset in music. Golden Gate Wingmen presents a repertoire that includes original music spanning a multitude of genres, as well as a broad mix of cover tunes from the catalogs they have studied over their storied careers.
Here in Baltimore, we are very fortunate to have Golden Gate Wingmen scheduled to appear at Baltimore Soundstage, one of the city’s premier venues. Soundstage hosts a melting pot of genres on its calendar, not least of all from the jamband scene. Around this time last year, they hosted the great Melvin Seals & JGB, and we’ve also seen Papadosio, The Nth Power, Dopapod, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, TAUK, Consider The Source and more in 2016. In past years, the venue has hosted everyone from Yonder Mountain String Band to The Disco Biscuits. Located in the heart of downtown Baltimore, just a few yards away from the Power Plant Live! area, Soundstage always delivers, providing an excellent concert experience every single time. Golden Gate Wingmen will take the stage on Wednesday, February 22 to begin a 4-night run that will take them up to New York and Pennsylvania. Drummer Jay Lane is particularly stoked for the Baltimore show, telling me, “I love Baltimore! Played there millions of times with Ratdog and we always party too much…” I will be on site for the band’s first show of 2017 in Baltimore to capture all of the action for Grateful Music. See below for info on the full 4-night run! Here is a taste of the magic they create.
